DI PAUL CALVERT

I’ve just embarked on a new book, as yet untitled, and hopefully a multi-book series with a new protagonist – Detective Inspector Paul Calvert.

Here is what I can tell you so far….

DI Paul Calvert is an experienced officer with over two decades in the Humberside Police. After a medical discharge from the Army, he embarks on a career with the police force and after his formative years were spent as a beat bobby and traffic officer, he joins the CID. A veteran of many high profile cases across Humberside, he rapidly makes a name for himself as an investigator with a sharp mind and an attention for detail.

After his wife loses her battle with cancer, Calvert takes some time out to reflect and recharge the batteries. Although I hope to set future books in this series across East Yorkshire, this first book sees him take a short break in the breath-taking Scottish region of Argyll and Bute.
His planned week of fell walking and whiskey drinking takes somewhat of an unexpected turn when a nine year old local girl goes missing. The story centres on both the search for her, and the circumstances around which Calvert finds himself drawn into the investigation.

Calvert has a knack of being in the right place at the wrong time. After witnessing and helping to uncover a gang of motorcycle thieves whilst on a summer holiday to Corfu a few years ago, it became a long standing family joke that wherever Paul was, you could be sure that he would find trouble.

As usual, expect a few twists and turns along the way.

I expect the first book in the DI Paul Calvert series to be published in December 2023
